3D printing engineering and design consultancy
We would be happy to help you prepare the geometry of your component for manufacturing using 3D printing, or to turn your idea from a hand sketch into a fully designed 3D file. Optimizing component geometry is particularly important for reliable and cost-efficient additive series production. When it comes to manufacturing spare parts in an industrial environment that are no longer available, we are happy to help you with our reverse engineering service.

SLS 3D printing-compatible design
SLS components can be optimized with regard to the following points, for example: wall thicknesses, hole diameters, tolerances, ribs to avoid distortion, gap dimensions for joints, price-optimized design for additive series production, residual powder removal. The design of complex components therefore sometimes requires specialist knowledge and a great deal of experience. We would be happy to support you so that your design is tailored to manufacturing using SLS 3D printing and get straight to the point with state-of-the-art CAD software. If you only need advice, please feel free to contact our sales team, we will be happy to help you!

From idea to 3D file
If you have an idea for a product and would like to manufacture it using SLS 3D printing later on, we would be happy to help you create the 3D data. We have experienced designers in our team and work with state-of-the-art CAD software. To ensure that everything remains fair and transparent, we charge by the hour.

Reverse Engineering
Using 3D scans on our GOM ATOS Capsule 3D scanner and CAD software, we digitize your component quickly and efficiently. This creates a solid basis for reproduction, optimization or further development of your component. Reverse engineering is frequently used in industry for spare parts that are difficult or no longer available.
Frequently Asked Questions - Engineering
In the area of engineering, we support you in optimally designing your component for SLS 3D printing. We assist both with optimizing existing designs and creating new 3D models . The goal of component optimization is to design the geometry of the component in such a way that it can be manufactured reliably, cost-effectively, and with process certainty using laser sintering.
For design and component optimization, prioadd primarily uses Creo as its CAD system. This allows components to be precisely designed, modified, or optimized for SLS 3D printing. Additionally, we use Materialise Magics, a specialized software for additive manufacturing, to prepare 3D data, analyze components, and optimally prepare them for the printing process.
Yes. Using reverse engineering, existing components can be digitized via 3D scanning. Based on this, a CAD model can then be created that can be used for reproduction, optimization, or further development. This method is frequently used when spare parts are no longer available.
Yes. If no CAD data is available yet, we can also design your idea from a sketch to a finished 3D file. Our designers work with modern CAD software to develop a design that is optimally suited for SLS 3D printing.
For engineering services, we first estimate the anticipated workload and create a quote based on this. Billing is fundamentally done on an hourly basis. If we require more time for a task than originally estimated, we will not charge more than agreed in the quote. Conversely, if we require less time, only the actual hours worked will be billed.
