Painting SLS 3D Printed Parts

We have an in-house paint booth and experienced painters and model makers in our team to paint your SLS parts quickly and easily as you need them. During painting, we first apply a plastic primer so that the subsequent paint adheres well to the component. There are no limits to the choice of colors: whether metallic or RAL tone, matt or glossy, multi-colored or single-colored. Optionally, we can overcoat the components with a layer of clear coat in the last painting step to make the paint finish more robust and appear more homogeneous.

Benefits of Painting

Ideal for parts that…

  • require a very special surface look

  • must meet precise requirements for component color

  • require a metallic look

Frequently Asked Questions - SLS 3D Printing

Yes. At prioadd we have an in-house spray booth as well as experienced painters and model makers in our team. This allows us to paint SLS components quickly and flexibly directly in-house and adapt them exactly to the desired color and surface requirements.

In principle, we can implement all desired colors. Depending on the requirements, different surface finishes are possible, for example matte, glossy, or metallic. Also, two-tone or multi-colored paint finishes can be achieved.

The choice between painting and immersion dyeing depends primarily on the desired application. Immersion dyeing is particularly suitable for functional components where uniform and abrasion-resistant coloring is desired, as the dye penetrates the surface of the material. Painting is primarily used when a specific color is required. This process is often used for models or design components where the visual appearance is the main focus.

To implement paint finishes as quickly and efficiently as possible, prioadd has an in-house paint shop. This allows components to be processed directly after printing without additional transport routes. In addition, the SLS components are pre-treated by immersion dyeing before painting. This means fewer layers of paint are required, which reduces drying times and shortens the lead time of the entire painting process.
